Reveals

What is a reveal?

A reveal is a timber surround attached to the outside of the window frame, used to fix the window securely into the opening. It not only helps in the installation process but also enhances the aesthetic appeal by providing a clean, finished edge around the window. Reveals also play a role in improving insulation, weatherproofing, and ensuring the overall structural integrity of the window installation.

Our Standard Reveal Sizes

We offer two standard reveal sizes for our windows and doors to suit common building types.

100mm Reveal – Suitable for timber framing with 90mm Timber Studs. The 100mm reveal creates a clean, finished edge around your window that works perfectly for homes built with timber framing.

138mm Reveal – This reveal size is suitable for brick veneer. The 138mm reveal works with thicker walls commonly found in brick veneer homes and buildings to ensure a seamless fit.

Custom Reveal Options

If you require a different reveal size, no reveals or angle to fit your window, we can accommodate to your specific needs. Whether you’re working with a custom build or have unique architectural requirements, we offer flexibility to ensure your window installation is just right.

Considerations for Your Opening Size

When ordering windows and doors with reveals, it’s crucial to factor in the necessary space within your wall or stud opening. As a general guideline, we recommend allowing 20mm on each side of your window opening, plus an additional 10mm allowance, making a total of 50mm for both the height and width measurements for window reveals. For doors, we suggest allowing 30mm for the height and 50mm for the width of the reveal.

Please note that all measurements listed on our website refer to the aluminium frame size. Be sure to account for the reveal dimensions to ensure your windows and doors fit properly within your opening when placing your order.
